Remember, ARF is only a firmware application for the hardware. There are many possibilities that don't have to include repeater location.
I have quite a number of things that I want to add to both the ARF application and the hardware as time progresses. First off though, I'd like to hear from you on a few things.
The first is what radios do you want to see supported in ARF? In the first release, I plan to support (but I'm not totally set yet):
- Kenwood
* D700
* TS2000
- ICOM
* 706 (Can't set CTCSS from CAT interface)
* 746/756
* 7000
- Yaesu
* FT-857D
...I'd like to hear what rigs you want to see supported. Please use the "contact me" form to let me know.
Other Ideas
"Favorites" and "Blacklists":
Someone suggested that I put in the ability to mark a repeater as either belonging to a blacklist or favorites. If the repeater is marked as a blacklist member, it would not be shown in searches if it happened to be located again. Repeaters in the favorites list could be used to automatically set your radio to a repeater in the favorites, the next time you were in range of the position where the repeater resides. What do you think? Send me a message to let me know. How about similar ideas?
Morse-related:
For one, since the ARF has a nice Morse feature, I'm giving some thought to adding a "practice mode" that allows you to do character group practice as well as "canned" QSOs. The latter of these may be somewhat limited, due to the fact that I don't have a huge amount of spare storage at the moment. In truth though, I could take some space in FLASH and set it aside as a location for these QSOs. You could even then create your own and upload them to the unit. Not sure yet how and when to add this. Hopefully some feedback will help me decide.
D700:
There have been a few very good suggestions about some nice D700 value-added features. I'll discuss those a little later.
I'll be posting more ideas as time goes by, but please feel free to send me suggestions!
